Baker-Seal named IDC Volunteer of the Year

The Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC) named Brown & James Principal Denise Baker-Seal its Volunteer of the Year for 2017. The award honors outstanding service to the association and to the Illinois defense bar.

Baker-Seal was elected to the IDC Board of Directors in June 2016. She served as managing editor of the 2016 IDC Survey of Law and was a contributor in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011.

Baker-Seal practices in the firm’s Belleville, Ill., office. Her practice focuses on employment cases, as well as catastrophic injury cases. She frequently represents employers and other businesses, including product manufacturers, truck lines, and property owners.

A lifelong resident of central Illinois, Baker-Seal also participates as an arbitrator in the St. Clair County (Ill.) and Madison County (Ill.) mandatory arbitration program. She serves on the firm’s employee/personnel committee and is also the co-founder of the Fifth Friday Initiative to increase retention and promotion of women in the firm.

She will be honored at the IDC Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon June 30 at the East Bank Club in Chicago. In addition to the presentation of awards, the IDC will also introduce its 2017-2018 officers, board members and committee leaders.
