Brown & James is pleased to announce Principal Steven Schwartz is now serving on the mediator and arbitrator panels for United States Arbitration & Mediation (USA&M). He was also named a 2023 Lawyer of the Year for St. Louis Litigation – Insurance by Best Lawyers.
Mr. Schwartz has been practicing since 1985 and regularly handles all types of litigation with a concentration on economic loss claims, including business disputes, professional liability claims, employment litigation, intellectual property disputes, class actions and insurance coverage matters.
Mr. Schwartz has experience with all types of business-related disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, unjust enrichment, RICO, tortious interference with contract, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, breach of fiduciary duty, securities fraud and antitrust.
Mr. Schwartz has handled professional liability cases of all types including claims against lawyers, accountants, payroll companies, insurance agents and brokers, real estate agents and brokers, real estate appraisers, and title companies.
Known for his practice in the area of employment law, Mr. Schwartz regularly handles cases involving allegations of discrimination, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations, Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) violations, retaliation, wrongful termination, hostile work environment, and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) violations.
With extensive experience in all types of intellectual property disputes, Mr. Schwartz handles patents, trademark, copyrights, and unfair competition disputes. He has also handled several technology and computer-related disputes, including claims of software counterfeiting and software contract disputes.
Mr. Schwartz also has substantial experience representing clients in complicated insurance coverage matters.
Mr. Schwartz also previously served as an attorney for the U.S. International Trade Commission, Office of Unfair Import Investigations.
