Brown & James Principal Justin Hardin served as chair of this year’s DRI Medical Liability & Health Care Law Seminar. DRI is the leading organization of civil defense attorneys and in-house counsel. It has 29 substantive committees whose focus is to develop ongoing and critical dialogue about areas of practice. Held in Nashville, Tennessee, the three-day seminar drew more than 200 attendees from all over the United States and Canada. Topics covered included tips and tricks to defend and combat ever-increasing life care plans, ethical considerations of HIPAA, fascinating medical presentations on urology, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery, updates in birth injury/trauma cases, using wearable tracking devices when defending medical liability cases, and jury selection and juror conduct in the highly publicized “Take Care of Maya” case.
