Tracie England is a principal at Brown & James, based out of Hutchinson, Kansas, where she brings more than two decades of litigation experience to clients across a broad range of civil defense matters.
Tracie’s practice focuses on the defense of complex civil claims, with particular depth in health care liability, professional liability, and insurance law. She has devoted much of her career to defending health care providers and institutions in medical malpractice cases — work that has earned her recognition as a Kansas Super Lawyer in Medical Malpractice.
Tracie’s foundation in defense-side litigation has given her extensive experience managing cases from initial investigation through resolution, including court appearances, discovery, expert coordination, and client counseling.
A committed member of her professional community, Tracie currently serves as president of the Reno County Bar Association, a leadership role she has held since 2022. Tracie is a member of the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel since 2003 and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Attorneys. Her commitment to public legal education is reflected in her recurring speaking engagements at the Wichita State University Physician Assistant Program, where she presents on medical malpractice litigation and Kansas State Board of Healing Arts investigations.
Tracie received her J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 2001, where she graduated with Dean’s Honors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Wichita State University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She also completed the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy in 2007.
Outside the office, Tracie enjoys spending time in nature — hiking, gathering around campfires with friends, and making memories with her family.
